This is going to be a short post. I've been following the spot prices of metals since I started scrapping. Spot prices are the prices that companies buy and sell pure ingots of a metals. There are many ways to check these prices, my favorite being Kitco. If you follow that link, you will see the current market spot price for copper. By clicking the links to the left of those charts, you can see historical and current prices of metals from aluminum to lead.
Keeping an eye on the spot price is a smart idea, because when the price that companies buy metal goes up, so does the scrap price. To make checking this easy to do, I have added the charts to the upper right of the page.
