Bolt Cutters

Worship Bolt Cutters. I have fallen in love with this tool. At the ready hand of every scrapper, there should be a bolt cutter.

Bolt cutter
When I'm junk trucking, I always bring two sizes of bolt cutters. I bring one giant sized pair, about a yard in length, and a second pair about half that big. My big pair of bolt cutters weighs about 50 lbs, so I keep the small one for small jobs. When I want things to fit in my truck, I pull one of those badboys out and snap the legs off a chair, or tear through a basketball net.

Something just as efficient, but power consuming, is a Sawz-all. This is a wonderful for use in a shop or garage setting; but when I'm out on the move, and I can't plug one of these things in, I bring out the bolt cutters. "But what about cordless?" you say. I say they don't hold enough power for the job I need them for. Well, maybe if I brought a car charger for the battery with me, I could pull it off...

The truth is my bolt cutters have grown on me so much, and their mechanical advantage is so great, that I enjoy simply picking them up when I'm out on the curb. They kick so much ass. But for anybody scrapping I have to recommend either a cordless reciprocating saw, or a badass pair of bolt cutters. The choice is all yours.
