"Green" and "sustainable" are two of the biggest buzz words of the past ten years. Why? Because people want to do business with those who are efficient, self-sufficient, and revolutionary. That means knowing How To Recycle Scrap Metal.
The problem is, many business owners don't really know or care about being green or sustainable... But almost all business owners underestimate how much of a money saver it really can be.
Let me be anecdotal:
No matter what type of business you run, please keep the financial part of sustainability in your mind, even if you don't care about the environment. The truth is, any costs associated with becoming more sustainable, for the most part will eventually pay for themselves, and then become profit.
For example, buying and installing a wind turbine or a solar panel will cost you up to $30000. But, federal and/or state incentives may pay for up to half of this. Any energy that you don't use can be sold back to power companies for PROFIT. For every megawatt-hour you produce, you get a renewable energy Credit (REC), which can be sold to businesses to off set their carbon footprint, effectively making environmentalism a tradable commodity! Plus, you don't have to pay for all the energy you are saving!
Energy conservative windows are the same deal, ect...
Do you donate everything you can? Do you recycle everything you can? Things like plastic, paper, and wood? Remember, everything made of materials, has worth as a second hand commodity.
Now, you apply sustainability directly to your business! Small changes every month or two become major differences in a few years.
Good Luck!

Let me be anecdotal:
Many people are familiar with the company 1800-GOT-JUNK? This Canadian founded company, as of right now, is donating or recycling about 60% of the things they pick up.
To their customers, this is a obvious sign of their commitment to keep the environment clean, and help out the community. It is one of the reasons the company is so respected.
But, it is also why the company is so profitable. All of the money they make from selling their recyclables is not only profit, but they also have far cheaper landfill overhead. On top of that, any thing that CAN be donated, WILL be donated, as the donated goods contribute to tax write-offs, keeping the company even more profitable!
