I was sort of worried about the release of this show. When it first came out I was worried that people would start thinking they were all scrapping pros because they had seen someone on TV do it.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great idea for someone to start scrapping; but the idea of America suddenly cursing out serious scrappers for taking their trash-aimed metal is a tough thought.
When I pick up some scrap metal at curb, and an owner approaches me, I will ask politely if they mind that I am taking their appliance.
They usually are like,"Whatever, it doesn't work. The what-ever-it's-called is broken."
To which I reply that I am selling it for scrap metal.
They undoubtably respond, "WELL, HOW MUCH ARE YOU GOING TO GET FOR IT?"
I say that I'm going to get $.07 per pound, and they scoff and walk away relieved.
After seeing Scrappers on TV, I right away realized that it was nothing to worry about. The way they have tried to turn it into a reality show is absolutely ridiculous, and the characters they found are also quite absurd.
UPDATE:
Scrappers was canceled. Who would have thought?
I know this show is old news. I just wanted to say that I hope it doesn't confuse the general public.
